(RMS COPYRIGHT AND USE OF THIS DOCUMENT - Refer to the Foreword after the Table of Contents)<strong>Heavy</strong> <strong>Duty</strong> <strong>Dense</strong> <strong>Graded</strong> <strong>Asphalt</strong><strong>R116</strong>2.2.5 Resilient ModulusFor asphalt containing in excess of 25% RAP material and/or containing warm mix asphalt additive, orif specified in Annexure <strong>R116</strong>/A, report the resilient modulus of the sample and the number of cyclesto compact it to 5.0 ± 0.5% air voids when determined in accordance with AS 2891.13.1.2.2.6 Deformation ResistanceFor asphalt containing in excess of 20% RAP material and/or containing warm mix asphalt additive, orif specified in Annexure <strong>R116</strong>/A, the rut depth must be reported when determined in accordance withTest Method Austroads AG:PT/T231.2.3 NOMINATED MIXESThe nominated mix design submission must:(a) satisfy the requirements of this Specification; and(b) be targeted during production of the asphalt.The nominated mix design submission is:(i) materials specific, and substitution of constituents is not permitted;(ii) design specific, and variation to the design nominated mix submission is not permitted;(iii) asphalt plant specific, and except for component maintenance, changes in the components,configuration and/or location of the plant is not permitted;(iv) contract specific, and release of the Nominated Mix Hold Point under another contract is notapplicable to this Contract.For each new establishment of a mobile asphalt plant, a full nominated mix submission is required.Special requirements for the use of rhyolite aggregate from Gosforth are contained in RMS TechnicalDirection TD 2013/02.2.3.1 Submission of Nominated MixesUnless specified otherwise, all asphalt and binder tests relating to the submission must be carried outwithin a one month period prior to the date of submission to the Principal. All other tests relating tothe submission must be carried out within a 6 month period prior to the date of submission to thePrincipal. All phases of any particular test must be performed at the same laboratory.Submit to the Principal one nominated mix design for each asphalt mix specified in Annexure <strong>R116</strong>/A.The nominated mix design submission must include the following details:(a)Constituent Materials(i)(ii)(iii)Coarse and fine aggregates: source, geological type.Aggregate of different type or quality from the same quarry face or within a quarry willbe regarded as a different source.Added filler: type, grade and source.Binder: source, class or grade.Ed 8 / Rev 3 9
