Today, the river remains an integral part of the city in thoseareas, but is also a source of recreation and relaxationfor the citizens of the region. One of the popular pastimespracticed on the banks of the Drava is fishing. A varietyof fish populates the waters of the river, including bothpike and carp. The portion of the Drava near Bilje was thesite of a World Fishing Competition event in the summerof 2006.Kopački Rit, the natural gem of the surrounding area, alsooffers fishing opportunities. A large part of the park hasbeen turned into a nature reserve, but there are areasthat are under less strict supervision and the fish arefair game (provided you have the proper licenses andpermits!). There are over 40 species of fish swimming thewaters of Kopački Rit, including pike, tench, bream, carp, catfish, pike-perch and perch. Information about fishingand hunting is available at the Kopački Rit tourist office oronline at www.kopacki-rit.com.Sport Fishing Union of Osijek-Baranja CountyH/I-2, Donjodravska obala 8, tel.
