4 ForewordArriving in OSIJEK5Virtually any discussion about vacationing in Europe is boundto come around to the famed Croatian coast. But there’smore to Croatia than just the coast (believe it or not!) andit would truly be a shame to miss out on an opportunity tovisit the Continental part of the country and catch a glimpseof what life is like in the another part of Croatia. The regionsurrounding Osijek is renowned for warm-hearted people, delicious food and a wealth of outdoor activities. The city itself has a charming, small-town feel, with wideavenues and spacious squares that just beg to be exploredand admired. It’s also known as the greenest Croatian city, and for good reason. There are 17 parks in the city, full oftrees and grass to play and lounge around in. The aestheticpleasures of the city are complemented by a rich historicaland architectural tradition, present in the cathedral andfortress that are must-see sights during your visit to thecity. And once you have explored the city itself, there are a load ofday-trips to be taken, including bicycling along the Danube, fishing in the Drava, birdwatching in the Kopački Rit NaturePark or visiting the castles that are all just a short distancefrom the city. If you come expecting the coast, you will beslightly disappointed. If you come expecting a chance toexperience the culture, history and traditions of a uniquepart of the world and to have a relaxing, low-key stay, thenyou will certainly be pleasantly surprised. In Your Pocket Video GuidesIn Your Pocket goes into the movie business...Kind of...
