GENERALINFORMATIONAdmissionsADMISSION REQUIREMENTSAdmission PolicyRegular admission into a degree or diploma programrequires documentation verifying the earning of a highschool diploma or GED. Regular admission into a certificateprogram requires the completion of applicableportions of the placement test.Additional times for placement testing includeTuesdays at 9 a.m. and 6 p.m. and by appointmentonly on the first and third Saturday of each month.To schedule an appointment for Saturday testing,call 646-1396 or 646-1397 by Thursday prior tothe desired test date. There is no fee for this test;some restrictions apply for retesting.4. Visit the Admissions Office to meet with a counselor.10Dual Enrollment StudentsDual enrollment students are high school studentswho wish to take college courses. Applicants who seekadmittance as dual enrollment students are acceptedas indicated below once the completed PermissionForm for Dual Enrollment is submitted with the appropriatesignatures:Non-DegreeDual enrollment high school students who seek toattend as transient students are classified as duallyenrolled students.General StudiesDual enrollment students who seek to participatein the General Studies Certificate Program areclassified as dually enrolled students once a placementtest is taken and a successful acceptance interviewis conducted.Other Admissions RequirementsIn addition to meeting general admission requirements,certain degree programs require students to meet additionalprogram-specific admission criteria. These criteriaare explained in the division and/or program sectionof this <strong>Catalog</strong>. For example, Health Education studentsare required to meet specific admission, medical, and curricularrequirements as outlined in the Health EducationDivision section. The Health Education Waiting Listprocedure also is explained in the Health EducationDivision section.STEPS TO ADMISSIONAdmission to Associate Degree, Diploma orCertificate programsNew students should:1. Complete the Application for Admission and submitit to the Admissions Office, P.O. Box 587,Pendleton, SC 29670. A $20 non-refundableapplication fee is due at the time of application.2. Submit final, official copies of their high schooltranscripts or GEDs to the Admissions Office.3. Take the placement test (picture ID required). Itis given in the Assessment Center, Miller Hall,Room 101, on a walk-in basis on Mondays,Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 8 a.m. until5 p.m. and Fridays from 8 a.m. until 11 a.m.Transfer students should:1. Complete the Application for Admission and submitit to the Admissions Office, P.O. Box 587,Pendleton, SC 29670. A $20 non-refundableapplication fee is due at the time of application.2. Submit final, official copies of their high schooltranscripts or GEDs to the Admissions Office.3. Request that each previously attended college sendofficial copies of transcript(s) to the AdmissionsOffice. (Note: Transfer students who have completedappropriate college courses in English andmath with a grade of “C” or higher may not needto take the placement test.)4. Visit the Admissions Office to meet with a counselorafter transcripts are received.Transient StudentsStudents who are not seeking a degree, diploma, or certificatemay enroll as Transient students. These studentsshould:1. Complete the Application for Admission and submitit by mail to the Admissions Office, P.O. Box587, Pendleton, SC 29670. A $20 non-refundableapplication fee is due at the time of application.2. Contact the Admissions Office to verify that theapplication has been processed.3. Register for classes on Transient student RegistrationDay.Note: Transient students are not eligible for FinancialAid.Re-admission to the <strong>College</strong>Returning students who have not attended the <strong>College</strong>within the past year must complete the CurriculumStatus Form available through the Admissions Office.Placement TestingThe <strong>College</strong>’s placement tests are the COMPASS or AS­SET, which are given in the Assessment Center. Studentsmay choose to take either test (picture ID required). SAT,ACT, or other standardized test scores may not be substitutedfor the placement test.
