GENERALINFORMATIONFinancial Informationgraduate, receive grades or transcripts, or attend any subsequentterms until all prior debts to the <strong>College</strong> are paidin full. These debts may date from any time the studentwas enrolled.REFUNDSIt is the responsibility of the student to initiate all actionfor a schedule change in order to receive a refund,except in the case of cancelled courses. See academiccalendars for refund deadlines.Cancelled CoursesWhen a course cancellation reduces a student’s courseload to below full-time status, the student (or sponsor)will receive a 100-percent refund of the difference betweenthe full course load (12 credit hours) and the newcourse load. If the student was enrolled for less thanfull-time status, the student (or sponsor) will receive a100-percent refund for the actual hours cancelled. Noaction is required by the student to initiate the refund.Students receiving financial aid must contact the FinancialAid Office in order to have their financial aid awardadjusted.Dropped Courses or Reduction of Credit Hours1. The refund schedule is as follows:• Before or during the drop/add period: 100%• After the drop/add period: 0%The refund will be calculated based upon the differencebetween full-time status (12 credit hours) andthe remaining attempted hours. Refunds for parttimestudents will be computed based upon theactual number of reduced hours.Terms of varying lengths will have refund periods thatcorrespond to the drop/add periods. If the drop/addperiod is equivalent to less than one instructional day,no refund will be granted. The specific drop/add periodsfor each term are noted on the academic calendar availableat www.tctc.edu.2. To be eligible for a refund, the student must initiatethe drop action by dropping the course(s)via their Campus Pipeline account. The requestmust be made during the refund period. Therefund request will be processed within 30 days.3. An administrative fee of $15 will be charged whenprocessing all refunds, except in the case of a cancelledcourse.and fee charges refunded to the government inaccordance with the statutory repayment policy.In certain instances, this repayment may result ina debt to the college and/or government that thestudent must repay. Copies of this regulation andrelated examples are available in the FinancialAid Office.Refunds for Veterans BenefitsTuition charges for Veterans Benefit (GI Bill) recipientswho are enrolled in non-degree programs and withdrawfrom all classes will be refunded in accordance with CFR12.4255. Copies of this regulation are available in theFinancial Aid Office. Requests for exceptions to the publishedrefund policy must be addressed in writing to theVice President for Student Affairs.FINANCIAL AIDThe primary purpose of financial aid is to help studentsin need of financial assistance to attend college. Studentsshould apply for financial aid early since priority deadlinedates are established for several types of aid. Exactdates that may be in effect can be obtained from theFinancial Aid Office.Financial Aid Policies• A student’s financial need is determined by subtractingthe expected family contribution (EFC)from the total cost of attending the <strong>College</strong>. Thefinancial aid awarded a student is not to exceedthat total cost and is to be used for legitimate educationalpurposes.• Applicants for financial aid should have appliedfor admission or be enrolled at the <strong>College</strong>. Thosestudents who receive financial aid must reapplyfor aid each year. Students who withdraw from allclasses for the term must notify the Financial AidOffice.• The Financial Aid Office reserves the right toreview and cancel the award at any time becauseof changes in a student’s financial or academicenrollment status, or if the student fails to perform<strong>College</strong> work-study duties satisfactorily.Students receiving financial assistance throughany of the Title IV Federal Student Aid Programsmust be making satisfactory progress toward adegree, diploma, or certificate.4. Students who never attend a class will be administrativelydropped.5. Recipients of Title IV federal financial aid (PellGrant) who withdraw from all classes prior to completing60 percent of the term will have tuition13
