Golden Jubilee Relay LRPShri R.K. Saini, IG (North East Ftr) handing over LRP flag to Shri V.K.Upreti, IG, Northern Ftr at BareillyGolden Jubilee relay LRP "Himveer 50" wasconceptualized by Dte. General, ITBP. It is being conductedall along the 3488 Kms <strong>Indo</strong>-China border with the followingaims :- a) To evaluate operational efficiency of the troopsof the border Bns of ITBP. (b) To showcase ITBP amongcivilians and defence authorities/ dignitaries of the <strong>Border</strong>States. (c) To inculcate a sense of security, belonging and tofurther strengthen rapport with the locals in remote areas.The relay LRP has been planned from eastern mostBOP 'Kibithu' of 9 th Bn, ITBP to DBO post of Ladakh sectorw.e.f. 14.02.2012 to 20.09.2012. The specially designedRelay LRP flag comprising of National Flag, ITBP Flag andthe flags of North-East, Northern and North-West Frontierswas handed over by the chief guest Shri P. Chidambaram,Union Home Minister to Shri Kripa Ram, the IG (EasternFrontier) on 24.10.2011 during the Force Raising Dayfunction.In its first phase, the Relay LRP was flagged offfrom Kibithu on 14.02.2012 and in a period of 82 days, theRelay LRP covered 4436 Kms in the AOR of NE Frontier.Relay LRP party at Tri- Junction344 Kms was in the remote mountainous, high altitude andsnow bound areas where at many places even tracks donot exist. In all 18 medical/veterinary camps and 17 bandshows were organized to showcase the ITBP in remote tribalareas which were attended by civilians in large numbers.Utility stores such as solar lights, TV sets with DTH, waterfilters, sewing machines etc and stationery/sports andschool uniform items worth ` 7,10982/- under head CAPand BADP were distributed. The Relay LRP flag handing/taking over ceremony enroute were also attended by largenumber of dignitaries and locals besides the media.An overwhelming response from Civilian/Armyauthorities and local dignitaries was received. Hon'bleSpeaker, Sikkim presented a sum of ` 1,10,000/- to schoolchildren and needy villagers of Village Yakla. Similarlythe local MLA and Parliamentary Secretary (Home)Shri Gadam Ete presented ` 30,000/- to needy villagers atAalo (Arunachal Pradesh).Finally the flag of the Relay LRP was handed over byShri R.K. Saini, IG, North-East Frontier to Shri V.K. Upreti, IG,Northern Frontier in a function at SHQ Bareilly on 08.05.2012.Relay LRP party at Dorjila post (18750 ft)Shri Subash Chand, 2I/C distributing sports items to local children atvillage Pegong, Sikkim32
