Eau Claire Heart Walk Fundraising Items Still For Sale Sacred Heart Hospital and its Heart & Vascular Institute would like to thank everyone who helped make this year’s 2011 Heart Walk a huge success! To continue the fundraising commitment, the Heart & Vascular Institute has great stocking stuffers available from this year’s event. Included are the 5-Cardiology/PCU Cooking With Heart Cookbooks, as well as the Heart Walk T-Shirts designed by the hospital’s very own talented cartoonist and cardiovascular surgeon, John Waciuma, MD. Retirement Announcement Pauline Bangle Congratulations to Pauline Bangle who is retiring after 13 dedicated years at Sacred Heart Hospital. Pauline began her service in Development and then became an Administrative Assistant in Patient Services, specializing in Press Ganey and Patient Satisfaction. With stellar customer service skills and a pleasant and upbeat attitude, Pauline has been a strong asset to her team. She has been a leader and mentor in the R.I.S.E.N. program, demonstrating her deep commitment to the hospital’s mission and core values. Her many contributions and her joyous spirit will be missed at Sacred Heart. In retirement, Pauline will fulfill a lifelong dream of serving as a lay minister. With great appreciation and gratitude, Pauline, we wish you many blessings in the future. Congratulations! Behavioral Health Scrub Sale a Huge Success Sacred Heart Hospital and the Behavioral Health Center would like to thank everyone who helped support this year’s Behavioral Health Scrub Sale held October 24-25 in Bishop Hall. More than $650 was raised to help support the mission of the St. Francis Food Pantry. Congratulations to Sandra Olson, who has retired after providing 34 years of loyal service to Sacred Heart Hospital. Sandy’s dedication was always evident in her pleasant interactions with her peers and customers in Admitting. As a Registration Representative, she served our patients with accuracy and great attention to detail. Sandy has been a real asset to her team and will be missed by many, including her daughter Wendy who also works at Sacred Heart. Sandy, best wishes as you begin your retirement. Day Of Healing For Bereavement After Suicide The Healing Place to Screen International Broadcast for Survivors Each day in the U.S., approximately 90 people take their own lives, leaving loved ones to struggle with the loss, grief and all of those questions that begin with “Why…?” The holiday season can be particularly difficult for survivors. To help, the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention is broadcasting a program called “Day of Healing for Bereavement After Suicide” on November 19 in more than 250 cities around the world, including Eau Claire. The program will be shown at The Healing Place: A Center for Life’s Journeys at 1010 Oakridge Drive, Eau Claire, on November 19 from 11 am to 12:30 pm. The program is free, but registration is required by November 17. To register, call The Healing Place at (715) 717-6028. Participants are encouraged to bring a bag lunch. Coffee, soda and cookies will be provided. Mark Your Calendar! Jewelry and Accessory Sale Returning Soon On November 17 and 18, the Volunteer Partners of Sacred Heart Hospital will host their annual jewelry and accessory sale to benefit ongoing hospital projects. Most items—necklaces, bracelets, earrings, scarves, billfolds, and much more—will be just $6. This is a great opportunity to update last year’s wardrobe or to purchase stocking stuffers for Christmas. Volunteer Partners Attend District Meeting Volunteer Partners board members Jaci Fuller, Barb Filla, and Joan Cook joined 65 hospital volunteers from nine other hospitals at the annual West Central District fall meeting hosted by Cumberland Memorial Hospital on October 26. Bonnie Olson serves as the District Community Health Chair. Free and open to the public The Healing Place: A Center for Life’s Journeys – Sacred Heart Hospital’s free grief support and holistic healing center – will host “The Healing Sounds of Christmas” holiday concert on December 9 at 7 pm at Florian Gardens (2340 Lorch Ave., Eau Claire). The event is free and open to the public, and will include live holiday music from local musicians. Complimentary desserts and holiday coffees will be served. Doors will open at 6:30 pm.
