Laura Anderson-Hennessey and Shaun Hennessey, ’89Established The Hennessey Scholarship for the College of Arts and Letters andThe Hennessey Fund for the Writing CenterMembers of The Founders ClubServing as the director of planningand giving at another university firststirred Shaun Hennessey’s philanthropicgiving. “That’s when I found out aboutbequests and estate planning,” he saidof his earlier career path.Hennessey, a 1989 graduate incommunication at <strong>Missouri</strong> <strong>State</strong><strong>University</strong>, wanted to remember thosefaculty members who helped himduring his own – sometimes confusing– academic years. He’s now the directorof development for St. Thomas MoreSchool in Oakdale, Connecticut.Hennessey and his wife, Laura,have established two endowed fundsat <strong>Missouri</strong> <strong>State</strong>. The HennesseyScholarship for the College of Arts andLetters is a deferred gift fund that willbe used to provide a scholarship toan undergraduate or graduate studentenrolled through the College of Artsand Letters.In honor of Shaun’s writing instructorKristene Sutliff, who is an Englishprofessor and the assistant head ofthe <strong>University</strong>’s English department,the Hennesseys have also createdThe Hennessey Fund for the WritingCenter. Hennessey said he took severalwriting courses under Sutliff, includinga technical writing class. “There were10 or 12 of us in her class.
