NEWSEVENTS24LpS 2011 - Focusingon the Light Sourceof the FutureFrom September 27th to 29th, 2011 the LEDLighting Technologies Symposium in Bregenz,Austria will offer developers, buyers, users aswell as researchers, suppliers of LED andsystem solutions, distributors, and others aninformation and communication platformfocused on the implementation of LEDs inlighting applications.Worldwide, LpS 2011 is the first symposiumthat focuses exclusively on the subject ofSolid State Lighting in the nature of active, passive, mechanical and optical components.A considerable number of experts in the areasof specific tools as well as the complexsubject of Measuring/Testing/Manufacturingwill be attending. Four of the world’s biggestLED manufacturers are amongst the over 60exhibitors at the fair. Fifteen media partnersfrom Germany, France, Great Britain, Austria,Switzerland and the U.S.A. are all supportingthe event.Technology, Components, Testing andSystemsThe second day of the symposium starts offwith LED technologies. The afternoon willfocus on electronic and optical componentswhereby the subjects of customized and freeform optics and the effects of materialvariations in synthetic lenses and costoptimized optics will be presented. In the areaof electronic components the subjects will bedrivers, spectral tuning, design perspectivesfor controlling and special printed circuitboard technologies.LpS 2011 is the first symposium that focusesexclusively on LED lighting technologiesThere is finally a trade show and symposiumfocusing exclusively on the subject of LEDlighting. The LED professional Symposium +Expo 2011 – also known as LpS 2011- will behost to the LED community on September27th -29th in Bregenz, Austria – directly onthe shores of Lake Constance.“LED technology for lighting applicationsneeded its own international platform, andnow there is the LpS 2011,” explained theperson responsible for the focus of the event– the symposium director, Siegfried Luger.“Just like the “Embedded World” event inNuremburg has become the event for theembedded community, the LED professionalSymposium has the potential to become theleading trade fair and the most importantEuropean event focused on LED technologyfor lighting applications.”Wide Range of LecturesThe range of lectures at the symposium, under the motto of “LED LightingTechnologies – Winning Approaches” coversthe entire range of topics that Solid StateLighting encompasses: Starting fromelectroluminescent diodes in the areas ofresearch and practice, to optics and driverIC’s, on to heat sinks, substrates andcomplete steering modules. Other topics thatwill be discussed are commercial aspects, thecorresponding design and configuration tools, testing and measuring instruments as well asproduction technology aspects.Three Keynote-SpeechesOn the first day, a three part workshop setsthe stage for the official opening and threekeynote speeches. These will touch on thetopics of possibilities and challenges thatLEDs bring for luminaire manufacturers aswell as the “Challenges of LED LightingSystems”. The third keynote speech will begiven by Prof. DDr. Sergei Ikovenko from theMassachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT)in Boston. He will be talking about thetechnological evolution in the area ofLED lighting. At the end of the second day the Gala Dinnernot only offers the participants a festiveevening, but also presents the chance for anadditional communication platform.Three sessions on the subjects of Testing/Measuring/Manufacturing, LED LightingSystems and Standardization/Reliability roundthe symposium up on the third day. The last ofthe presentations will be about standardization, norms and the selection of LEDs in order toguarantee quality and reliability.Further information and Registration:LED professional Symposium + Expo 201127. bis 29.
