REGISTRATION INFORMATIONmyWNCRegistrationRegistration can be accessed online through myWNC at my.wnc.edu.All students are issued an NSHE ID number which is a student's officialidentification number at WNC and all other institutions within the <strong>Nevada</strong>System of Higher Education.myWNC is a self-service, online portal that allows students to browse,select and register for classes, pay fees, check financial aid status, andobtain grades - all in one place. In addition, there are features for calculatingcosts, monitoring degree progress, and catching up on the latestcollege news.• NEW TO WNC? — Students who have not taken a credit class inthe past three years must complete an online application for admissionprior to registering. www.wnc.edu/studentservices/admissions/• STUDENT I.D. Both are designed to meet theneeds of students with busy lifestyles who may not have the opportunityto attend regularly scheduled or on-campus classes.Interactive video classes offer two-way audio and video from theoriginating site at regularly scheduled times.Many web classes have few, if any, scheduled meeting timesand can be accessed 24/7 from any computer.Rural Services & ProgramsTo serve residents in smaller communities of western <strong>Nevada</strong>, WNCoffers a combination of interactive video, online and on site classes thatwill allow students to earn a two-year associate degree or prepare fortransfer into a four-year bachelor’s degree program.Interactive video classes are offered in Fernley and Yerington atdesignated community locations. See the individual class schedule pagesor check myWNC for details.Through partnerships with local school districts and citygovernments, <strong>Western</strong> <strong>Nevada</strong> <strong>College</strong> is able to offer courses between5:30 and 9:45 p.m., Monday through Thursday, that meets requirementsleading to an associate degree. Students may also choose from dozensof online courses offered each semester that can supplement interactivevideo classes to achieve a degree and prepare for transfer to a university.Many students commute for some of their classes to the Falloncampus, which is the hub of WNC’s rural education programs. There, awider variety of courses is offered on site that can lead to an Associateof Arts or an Associate of Science degree.For some majors, students also attend at the Carson City orDouglas campuses for a portion of their degree.WNC OnlineOnline and web enhanced classes are provided through WNC Online.Students taking online classes should have regular access toa reliable computer with a high-speed Internet connection. Basicskills required include: sending and receiving e-mails, word processing,attaching files, and basic web browser configuration. Successfulonline students are independent learners, self-motivated,and possess good reading skills and study habits. A typical threeunitclass requires a minimum of about 10 hours per week forreading course materials and completing assignments.Web Classes: Classes delivered over the Internet that may require one ormore scheduled meetings, either online or face-to-face.Web Enhanced Classes: Regular face-to-face classes that use an Internetcomponent to expand the course experience.Blended Classes: Classes delivered primarily over the Internet with regularlyrequired face-to-face meetings.Moodle: The software that the college uses to power WNC Online classes.Access Moodle directly at http://wnc.mrooms3.netThe WNC Student Code of Conduct applies to online classes as it does to traditional classes. The online classroomshould be considered the same as a traditional classroom with all of the norms of behavior that thestatement implies.
