Ease of OperationEase of operation was paramount in the design of the new TH460B. The single joystick,with its intuitive, modulated, hydraulic functions and the new Cat electronic machineinformation display are designed to maximize operator efficiency.Joystick Control. The joystick allowsthree simultaneous boom functions andincorporates a unique slider switch.Two joystick control patterns are availableto meet application requirements.The joystick also operates the auxiliaryhydraulic function and allows the optionof a second auxiliary service for the useof work tools that require more thanone hydraulic service.Hydraulic System. The Cat ElectroHydraulic system allows all three boomfunctions to be operated simultaneouslyand proportionally. This enables preciseplacing of loads in challenging applications.Auxiliary hydraulic functions are availableon the joystick to allow operators to utilizemore complex work tools.A continuous flow auxiliary hydraulicsupply is also available for operating toolssuch as pickup brooms.Integrated System. Cat’s exclusiveintegrated management systemallows the engine, transmissionand hydraulic systems to operatewith maximum efficiency, controland productivity.Flow Sharing. Three simultaneoushydraulic functions are achievedusing a flow sharing hydraulic valve.A load sensing variable displacementpump allows full hydraulic powereven at low revs.5

The TH460B offers excellentmaneuverability, due to its tight turning circle andits three different steering modes.The TH460B has 48 degree axle steering angle andno rear tail swing, allowing it to work productivelyand safely in confined areas.Steering Modes. The TH460B offers three steeringmodes (two wheel, crab and circle steer) to allowan operator to easily position the machine.Steering modes are selected by a single 3-positionrocker switch.6

The Cat3054T engine, with its low emissionsand high torque will give maximumperformance whatever the conditions.For improved sound characteristics, aventuri tailpipe has been packagedinside the engine enclosure.The cooling system has been designedto work in the most challengingconditions.Transmission. The B-Series hasa purpose designed Cat transmission.The TH460B has four speedforward/three speed reversepowersyncro transmission as standard.Axles. The TH460B is fitted withCaterpillar planetary reduction axles,with four wheel braking.For improved machine performance indifficult conditions, a differential lockis included (front axle).7
