Spring Valley returnsa pair of 300-pound juniorstarters in Alex Locklearand AAA All-Stater TrevorStacy.The line also returns startingcenter Josh Hammer.“We have some holes tofill,” Dingess said.The biggest hole to fillwill be at the running backspot.The Wolves lost two1,000 yard rushers in RyanGeorge and Huff Award winnerElijah Wellman (<strong>WVU</strong>),but return a core of youngplayers in the backfield.Tyler Robertson and ColbyWebb will see substantialcarries from returning juniorquarterback Tyler Brown.Spring Valley opponentsin the top 20 include: No.3 South Charleston (2012won); No. 6 Huntington(2012 lost); No. 10 CabellMidland (2012 lost twice);No. 18 Hurricane (2012win); and No. 19 Riverside(2012 DNP).The defending two-timestate champion <strong>Wayne</strong> Pioneerssit near the top of theAA powerhouses, rankedNo. 2 coming in behind No. 1ranked Fairmont Senior.<strong>Wayne</strong> has not lost a gamesince the second game ofthe 2010 season, winning23 straight games. Theyhave not trailed in any gamefor a mind-blowing 1,069minutes.The defense gave up anastounding 11.8 points agame.Many believe that thePioneers are the team to beatbut the loss of running backBrandon Spurlock will makeit a challenge.Hoping to fill Spurlock’sshoes at the back spot ispower-runner Mason Hodge.Hodge is the top-runner forthe Huff Award– given to thetop defensive player in thespot. Hodge punishes playerson both sides of the ballwith his strong frame and runthrough-rather than around,approach to the game.The biggest question to<strong>Wayne</strong>’s season is how willthe line play?There are many holes tofill on the line for TommyHarmon’s squad, but if thelast few seasons are testimonyto the Pioneer program,then there are a few horsesleft in the stable.<strong>Wayne</strong> opponents makingthe list include No. 4 andlongtime rival Blufield (2012win).
