Methodology and Data Collection4.1 Sampling FrameThere are at present 36 universities in Nigeria and these constitute thepopulation of study. These are made up of 16 Federal and 10 State Universitiesthat follow the conventional pattern; 3 Federal Universities of Agriculture, 5Federal Universities of Technology and 3 State Universities of Technology. Thestudy will concentrate on the 16 Federal Universities that follow the conventionalpattern since they have a fairly similar type of administrative structure.Out of these 16 Federal Universities, 4 Universities (i.e. 25 percent) werepurposively selected for detailed survey as follows:1. University of Ibadan, Ibadan.2. University of Nigeria, Nsukka.3. Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria.4. University of Benin, Benin.The geographical location of these four universities is shown in Fig. 1.4.2 Data CollectionThere are two major sources of data collection employed for the study.These are:1.
