Although, <strong>the</strong> female <strong>academic</strong> are not experienc<strong>in</strong>g any frustrations <strong>in</strong><strong>the</strong>ir jobs, <strong>the</strong>y are not sure of how <strong>the</strong>y want <strong>the</strong> issue of gender <strong>in</strong>equity <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong>university system to be tackled.6.2 RecommendationsIt is recommended that s<strong>in</strong>ce <strong>women</strong> are not sure of what <strong>the</strong>y want,<strong>the</strong>y are not capable of <strong>in</strong>itiat<strong>in</strong>g any changes <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> system that will help tosolve <strong>the</strong> problem of gender <strong>in</strong>equity <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> university system. Ra<strong>the</strong>r effectsshould be made to undertake <strong>the</strong> necessary adjustments <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> systemirrespective of whe<strong>the</strong>r <strong>the</strong>se changes come from <strong>the</strong> <strong>women</strong> or not. Thefollow<strong>in</strong>g adjustments are suggested:1. The need to educate <strong>the</strong> society to stop stereotyp<strong>in</strong>g roles accord<strong>in</strong>g togender;2. Special lecturer programmes for <strong>women</strong> <strong>in</strong> order to enhance <strong>the</strong>irawareness of <strong>the</strong> existence of gender <strong>in</strong>equity <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> system;3. Change <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> attitude of men or male chauv<strong>in</strong>ism;4. Establishment of Women Studies UnitsIt is believed that <strong>the</strong>se recommendations will <strong>in</strong>crease <strong>the</strong> participationof <strong>women</strong> as <strong>academic</strong> and <strong>academic</strong> adm<strong>in</strong>istrative staff <strong>in</strong> NigerianUniversities. It will also improve <strong>the</strong>ir performance and enable <strong>the</strong> <strong>women</strong> <strong>in</strong><strong>academic</strong> <strong>positions</strong> <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> <strong>universities</strong> to make more dist<strong>in</strong>ctive contributions to<strong>the</strong> quality and relevance of <strong>universities</strong> <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> higher education system <strong>in</strong>Nigeria.
