Although, the female academic are not experiencing any frustrations intheir jobs, they are not sure of how they want the issue of gender inequity in theuniversity system to be tackled.6.2 RecommendationsIt is recommended that since women are not sure of what they want,they are not capable of initiating any changes in the system that will help tosolve the problem of gender inequity in the university system. Rather effectsshould be made to undertake the necessary adjustments in the systemirrespective of whether these changes come from the women or not. Thefollowing adjustments are suggested:1. The need to educate the society to stop stereotyping roles according togender;2. Special lecturer programmes for women in order to enhance theirawareness of the existence of gender inequity in the system;3. Change in the attitude of men or male chauvinism;4. Establishment of Women Studies UnitsIt is believed that these recommendations will increase the participationof women as academic and academic administrative staff in NigerianUniversities. It will also improve their performance and enable the women inacademic positions in the universities to make more distinctive contributions tothe quality and relevance of universities in the higher education system inNigeria.
