Part 1 of the study has considered Greater Parramatta as a single centre. The alignments within this areahave only been used to assist in identifying a preferred first stage scheme. The growth of Greater Parramattais a major focus of the study and details how future public transport serves this important area are to beinvestigated in Part 2 of the study, including the connection to Westmead.Figure 1.3Greater Parramatta1.2.3 Study processParramatta City Council has undertaken a feasibility study into the proposed Western Sydney Light RailNetwork. The study refines the proposed public transport network suggested by Council and identifies a firststage light rail project. The Feasibility Study assembles outputs of separate but closely related studies intransport, land use, environment, social outcomes and economics. However, this Feasibility Study is not abusiness case, but an initial feasibility review of the Western Sydney Light Rail Network proposal.The Feasibility Study has two parts. These are:• Part 1: Identifies a connected public transport network for Western Sydney centred on Parramatta, andundertakes a multi-criteria analysis and modelling to identify a preferred first stage scheme.• Part 2: Refines and develops the transport and land use planning aspects of the preferred first stagescheme, including an initial engineering feasibility.This document is Part 1 of the Feasibility Study.Project groupPart 1 of the Feasibility Study entails five separate but integrated work streams being undertaken byconsultants to provide the key indicators and outcomes, as outlined in Diagram 1.1 below:Parramatta City Council Western Sydney Light Rail Network - Part 1 Feasibility Report 3
