Truck-mounted concrete pumps
M 49-5 – with 4 axles in the fast lane
The request for maximum reach on 4 axles
first came from the Chinese market. Putzmeister
exhibited its new M 49-5 truckmounted
concrete pump for the first time
at the last Bauma Shanghai. The innovation
was an immediate success there.
This was due to the right balance between
reaching the permissible gross weight for
the 4-axle chassis (HINO) established on
the market there and the minimum support
area with a flexible 5-arm boom. In
addition, the price for the M 49-5 should
be significantly lower than the M 52-5 with
the highly flexible, variable position TRDV
support. These advantages will be presented
by Putzmeister in Europe for the first
time at the Bauma fair.
The gross weight of this machine on 4
axles is approx. 40 tons. It is therefore of
interest wherever a large boom is required
on a low-priced chassis with a maximum
reach of 50 m. The RZ fold system offers
crucial advantages in certain application
situations in high-rise construction
(see box). n
Here, the 5-arm boom of the M 49-5 shows an enormous horizontal reach.
The additional 5th arm and its hinge increase flexibility, possible uses and
net reach of a truck-mounted concrete pump (top). Due to a lack of manoeuvrability,
a 4-arm boom is much more difficult to slip into buildings. It
may have to give up on attaining its net reach, depending on how great the
distance is.
