ttleViolandSCIENCE AND ANTHROPOSOPHY JOURNAL FOR ANTHROPOSOPHYFrom the EditorThe AGMThe Annual General Meeting—AGM—is our regular point ofcontact as a national society. It moves back and forth acrossthis wonderful continent, making a new design each year in theweave of our relationships and shared destinies. This was onlythe second AGM your editor has attended, the previous one beingin the last century, but this year felt exceptionally hopeful. We can’t report on the whole event, but share some observationsand thoughts on page 37.Anthroposophy & ScienceOur sister publication, theScienceandCLASSICS FROM THE JOURNAL FOR ANTHROPOSOPHYSelected and Introduced by Arthur ZajoncSeries Editor: Robert McDermottNUMBER 81 MICHAELMAS 2009Journal for Anthroposophy, hasdisappeared from view for many. Ithas been in “classics mode,” whichmight seem like mere repackaging, and long-time members wouldalready have all that material, right? Actually the new volumeshave proven exceptional, miningdecades of insight and adding outstandingnew introductory essays. The latest, “Anthroposophy andScience,” is edited and introducedby Arthur Zajonc, of course. Callthe office or order online.Personals? We’ve had only a handful of comments, all favorable, on theidea of personal ads, online or in this publication. Some mentionedthat extra work would be required to organize and lookafter this sort of information, and for now that is an obstacle.Correction!Author and historian Kevin Dann has kindly shared his workwith us twice now, and he wrote to say that he enjoyed the last issue’sarticle about Threefold, which included an excerpt from hisbook—about which he added, “I love that you’ve retitled it!” Toset the record straight, the book is titled Across the Great BorderFault: The Naturalist Myth in America, and it is an outstanding juxtapositionof the projects and mindset of early twentieth century“naturalism” with the new ideas at the nearby anthroposophicalsummer school at Spring Valley, NY, that began in 1933.A Year of EvolvingThis issue completes a year of being an “evolving” publication, which the name will reflect for one more issue. You have beenkind with your comments! This evolving is a stretch, though itfulfills only a fraction of the potential. Much energy has gone intothe new format and making use of the visual possibilities. Moreand more we hope to connect the work here with other communicationswork going on, whether in groups and branches, from thesections of the School for Spiritual Science and our many initiatives, internationally, or online at anthroposophy.org.— John Beck, Editor, Evolving News for Members & FriendsEmail: editor@anthroposophy.orgWaldorf Education • Anthroposophy • the ArtsCome study on 140 beautiful acres just 40 minutesfrom New York City in a community of institutions andinitiatives centered on promoting spiritual values in allaspects of human life since 1926.Chestnut Ridge, NYinfo@sunbridge.eduPhone and E-mailOrders Welcome!Part-time ProgramsNOW ENROLLINGBiography & Social ArtMarch 2010Waldorf Early Childhood Teacher EducationSummer 2010Waldorf Elementary Teacher EducationSummer 2010Visit our Website to find out more about:Open HousesInformation EveningsShort-Courses & Lecturesnew weekend conferences in Wisdom StudiesLearning • Spiritual Renewal • Inspiration!845.425.0983Bookstore@Sunbridge.eduwww.Sunbridge.edu845.425.0055 x18BOOKS ONWaldorf Education,Anthroposophy,ParentingGardening, Art,Math, Medicine, Science, and More!BOOKS FORChildren, Young Adults,Parents, TeachersGREAT FINDS!Gifts, Art Prints,Stationery, Postcards,Musical Instruments4 Evolving News for Members & Friends
