<strong>Urban</strong> <strong>Transport</strong> Developmentin the People’s Republic of ChinaThe PRC has been experiencing urbanization at an unprecedented rate over thelast decade. The population in urban areas more than doubled from 1990 to2009, as shown in Figure 4. Comparing the rate of urbanization with othercountries (Figure 5), the PRC’s rate of urbanization is very high.
