<strong>LIME</strong> Connection VRe-imagining Indigenous health education:Harnessing energy, implementing evidence,creating change.The fifth biennial <strong>LIME</strong> Connection is being held in Darwin, Northern Territory from 26-28 August 2013.Keynote speakers include experts in Indigenous health and medical education from Australia, Aotearoa/NewZealand, Hawai’i and Hong Kong. The target audience includes Indigenous and non-Indigenous medical and healtheducators, Indigenous health specialists, medical specialists, policy makers, students and community members.This year’s Connection will focus on Re-imagining Indigenous Health Education: Harnessing energy,implementing evidence, creating change.The theme of the Conference builds on the focus of evidence based practice at <strong>LIME</strong> Connection IV and aimsto capture new initiatives, share successful methods and workshop visions for the future through:• addressing leading approaches to the inclusion of Indigenous health into medical and health education;• providing an opportunity to discuss and critique current practices;• providing a space to explore emerging tools and techniques to drive improvement in outcomes forIndigenous health;• encouraging information sharing, professional development, capacity-building and networking amongstpeers;• supporting collaboration between medical schools;• building linkages with colleges and those from other health disciplines;• continuing to showcase the growing body of evidence illustrating the relationship between medicaleducation and Indigenous health with a view to publication of this evidence.<strong>LIME</strong> Connection V is being co-hosted by Charles Darwin University and Flinders University and is held underthe auspices of Medical Deans Australia and New Zealand, the Australian Indigenous Doctors’ Association andTe Ohu Rata O Aotearoa (Te ORA) - Māori Medical Practitioners Association of Aotearoa.Initiatives relating to the following topics will be presented at the conference:• Implementing an evidence led curriculum;• Recruitment and graduation of Indigenous students;• Partnerships, placements and community engagement;• Student initiatives;10
