ResultsThere was considerable variation amongst the health boards (figure 16a-c) in the proportion of8-year-olds who had fissure sealants on their teeth. However as the prevalence among thisgroup is closely linked to the timing of the survey, it is not possible to draw inferences from thevariation. In the older age groups there was less variation, in most regions in the RoI at least58% of 12-year-olds and at least 61% of 15-year-olds had some fissure sealants on their teeth.The notable exception was the NWHB where fewer fissure sealants were observed. Forty fivepercent of 12- year-olds and 44% of 15-year-olds had some fissure sealants on their teeth.
