17. New BusinessNew Business Item raised by P. Paolatto during Public Agenda Item # 3, CostRecovery, was discussed.P. Paolatto raised the issue of cost recovery in the wake of the Fleming Drive riotof March 17 th /18 th , 2012 asking LPS Executive if there are any cost recoverymechanisms for requesting restitution, either through initiating legal actionagainst the offenders or parents of the offenders, or otherwise?Chief Duncan advised that there are some measures in place to requestrestitution, noting that repairs to cruisers alone are now estimated at $55,000 andovertime costs were tremendous as a result of expending a significant number ofadditional officers. Chief Duncan advised that he concurs with P. Paolatto’srecommendation for the Board to pursue cost recovery for the March 17 th /18 thincidents on Fleming Drive.J. Fontana expressed his support for seeking cost recovery as a result of theseincidents, noting that he does not feel that taxpayers should have to pay for this.Chair Deeb asked if there was a motion to be brought forward that would havethe LPSB Chair seek out ways that cost recovery could take place.MOVED BY:Seconded by:P.
