The study sponsored by North Eastern Council is undertaken by the Unit for the States ofAssam, Meghalaya, Manipur, Tripura, Nagaland, Mizoram and Arunachal Pradesh and thereports on these States were submitted to NEC during 1993-94.Action Research ProgrammeAs a follow up of the empirical study, Action, Research Programmes are initiated by the Unitin the districts of Banda, Sonebhadra and Saharanpur in Uttar Pradesh, West Champaran andRohtas in Bihar. Voluntary organisations are engaged in the activity an are funded by theUnit from the special grant receive for the programme. The programme would be ex tendedto other states in due course of time.Core GroupTo adopt an inter-disciplinary approach and to draw the rich expertise available at theAcademy, a Core Group has been formed and its present members are listed in Table.
