System Requirements2. System RequirementsThe following are requirements for a typical <strong>BVM</strong>-<strong>40</strong> system.2.1. Components<strong>Alber</strong> <strong>BVM</strong>-<strong>40</strong> <strong>Battery</strong> <strong>Voltage</strong> <strong>Monitor</strong>.<strong>Voltage</strong> sense leads.<strong>Alber</strong> <strong>BVM</strong>-<strong>40</strong> <strong>Battery</strong> <strong>Voltage</strong> <strong>Monitor</strong> <strong>User's</strong> <strong>Guide</strong>, 4200-043 (this manual).Wiring diagrams for <strong>BVM</strong> to jar connection (as required).Tools for installing cabling and connecting the <strong>BVM</strong> to the jars.2.2. WiringThe <strong>BVM</strong>-<strong>40</strong> is designed to connect to jars that have a nominal voltage of 12VDC.The receptacle for the AC cord from the <strong>BVM</strong>-<strong>40</strong> must have protective earth connection(three prong). Do not defeat the use of the earth connection prong.Drawings in this manual may be for reference only or superseded by later drawings. For thelatest information, refer to the drawings supplied with your system.2.3. Disconnect DeviceThe three prong AC cord from the cabinet, which connects to the 115VAC receptacle, isconsidered the primary disconnect device.2.4. VentilationYou must provide adequate ventilation to prevent equipment overheating. Only the top of the<strong>BVM</strong> has ventilation holes. If mounting the <strong>BVM</strong> from the top, use the standoffs provided toensure adequate ventilation. Do not block the ventilation ports, and ensure the equipment isoperated within the temperature and humidity ranges described in this manual.2
