Whoever, being legally bound by an oath or an affirmation to state the truth on anysubject to any public servant or other person authorized by law to administer such oath oraffirmation, makes to such public servant or other person as aforesaid, touching thatsubject, any statement which is false, and which he either knows or believes to be false ordoes not believe to be true, shall be punished with imprisonment of either description for aterm which may extend to three years, and shall also be liable to a fine.180. Whoever gives to any public servant any information which he knows or believes tobe false, intending thereby to cause, or knowing it to be likely that he will thereby cause,such public servant to use the lawful power of such public servant to the injury orannoyance of any person, or to do or omit anything which such public servant ought not todo or omit, if the true state of facts respecting which such information .is given were knownby him, shall be punished with imprisonment of either description for a term which mayextend to six months, or with fine which may extend to one thousand rupees, or with both.Illustrations(a) A informs the Inspector-General of Police that Z, a policeofficer, has been guilty of neglect of duty or misconduct, knowingsuch information to be false, and knowing it to be likely that theinformation will cause the Inspector-General to dismiss Z. A hascommitted the offence defined in this section.(b) A falsely informs a public servant that Z has contraband salt ina secret place, knowing such information to be false, and knowingthat it is likely that the consequence of the information will be asearch of Z's premises, attended with annoyance to Z. A hascommitted the offence defined in this section.181. Whoever offers any resistance to the taking of any property by the lawful authority ofany public servant, knowing or having reason to believe that he is such public servant, shallbe punished with imprisonment of either description for a term which may extend to sixmonths, or with fine which may extend to one hundred rupees, or with both.Obstructing saleof propertyoffered for saleby authority of apublic servant.Obstructingpublic servant indischarge of hispublic functions.Omission toassist publicservant whenbound by law togive assistance.182. Whoever intentionally obstructs any sale of property offered for sale by the lawfulauthority of any public servant, as such, shall be punished with imprisonment of eitherdescription for a term which may extend to one month, or with fine which may extend to onehundred rupees, or with both.183. Whoever voluntarily obstructs or any public servant or any person acting under thelawful orders of such public servant in the discharge of his public functions, shall bepunished with imprisonment of either description for a term which may extend to threemonths, or with fine which may extend to one hundred rupees, or with both.184.
