PALRAMNEWSCreating SolutionsSpotlight on Amir SadeProduct Manager for PALIGHT Trimboard andSUNTUF RooflightsAcademic Background: Practical Plastics Engineer; currently completing anMBA.Years at Palram: five years in R&D, four as a founding member of the TechnicalSupport team, two in marketing. As a product manager I aim to provide high quality service, support Palram’smarketing platform across the globe and centralize information on PALIGHTTrimboard and SUNTUF Rooflights. This includes on-site customer seminars, project support and monitoring, and developing services and marketingpackages, as well as special projects with Palram customers. I also explorenew markets and look for new clients for these special products.SUNTUF Rooflights are in-plane corrugated polycarbonate panels thatintegrate with metal panel roofs or walls and can be matched to any metalprofile in a very short time, with no investment on the customer’s part.PALIGHT Trimboard is a cellular PVC board offered as a decorative supplementfor the residential building industry. It is extremely convenient to work withand, unlike wood, never rots or swells. The past year has seen a lot of advancesin many aspects of both products. They are always evolving and enablingnew sub products, so we can expect even more advances in the future.Over Tightened Bolt squeezingthe underlying seal and the sheetSUNTUF roof on top of the Talin Stadium, EstoniaStay Connected – But Not Too Tight Please!Feeling a bit depressed in your daily service at work? Fearful of crackingunder pressures that are more than you can handle?Blame it on a bunch of over-tightened, barbarian screws! As a rule, any civilized sheet would just love to be nicely attached to asupporting construction, providing a solid basis for successful, continuousservice.Over-tightening is by far the most harmful of all wrong installation features, but the availability of powerful electric tools makes it particularly difficultto prevent. All plastic sheets are sensitive to local stresses, and will eventually respondto such stresses by crazing and cracking, leading to functional failure. How can you prevent over-tightening?We have found that the most efficient method for prevention is to...1. Move the screw fixing points from valleys (channels) to crests, and2. Use a metal crest rider (also called saddle washer) with every screw. These washers efficiently distribute the fixing stresses in the sheets, anddrastically improve the continuous performance of such roofing elements.Furthermore, crest fixing is in principle much better for waterproofperformance, since the channels remain intact.Aharon Ben-Shahar Technical Support Manager
