Course DescriptionsED136A Foundations of US Education, 3 cr.An introduction to professional education providing a historicaland philosophical background from which the student can examinehis or her own commitment to education. Challenges and issuesin education today will be discussed in the context of schoolorganization, funding, curriculum, professionalism, legal issuesand effective teacher characteristics.ED203A Children’s Literature, 3 cr.Teaches the criteria for choosing the best children’s literatureand applies that criteria to evaluating materials to be used in theclassroom.EnglishEN100A Introduction to College Writing, 3 cr.Students will be provided additional practice in writing beyondthe writing foundations level, if needed.
