Kompetenz, Organisationstalent und ihr Zuspruch hat
vielen Volontär/inn/en unserer Fakultät einen Einsatz
bei der owf ermöglicht. Diplomarbeiten zur owf haben
wir gemeinsam vergeben, möge dies auch in Zukunft
so bleiben. Danke!
Unsere Gedanken gehen zurück zu Joseph Ortner,
der seine Vision umgesetzt hat. Er hat ein Netzwerk
von sozial Verantwortlichen geschaffen, die in der
owf praktische Hilfe für die Jugend in Sri Lanka leisten.
Joseph war ein wunderbarer Mensch, von dem
man viel lernen konnte, der nie aufgegeben hat und
Großes hinterlassen hat. Kathrin Messner hat die anspruchsvolle
Aufgabe, dieses Erbe zu bewahren, das
gemeinsam Geleistete weiterzuentwickeln.
Dir Kathrin gilt unser Dank, wir sind stolz darauf,
mit der owf arbeiten zu dürfen und wünschen gutes
Gelingen für die Zukunft.
An Ayurveda cure in Sri Lanka is an insider tip
for good health. My wife Elfriede and I flew
once again to Sri Lanka for Christmas 1995 and
then to Ahungalla. After the treatment we decided
to explore the surrounding area. At the start of our
walk we discovered a plain modern villa in a tropical
garden. We were interested in the villa and tried
to find out more about it. On the balcony was a
young man who welcomed us with a charming Austrian
accent and invited us in for a ginger tea. Together
with his partner, Kathrin Messner, Joseph
Ortner explained his vision of the one world foundation.
This was the start of a very special friendship
that developed into a successful and fruitful cooperation.

Modest beginnings
We can look back on very modest beginnings.
A small sports field next to the school where Sri
Lankan children were taught English free of charge
and could drink tea and play during the breaks. A
small sewing room for the girls was attached to the
school. I was able to persuade Dominik Rossmann,
Frank John and Hans Logins, lecturers at the University
of Munich, to set up a computer unit. This
was made possible thanks to the help provided by
generous sponsors and the continued commitment
of all concerned. Thank you!
The tsunami destroys everything
Crises also offer opportunities. Kathrin and Joseph
energetically committed themselves to reconstruction
and new buildings after the tsunami. We were
again able to provide assistance and the support of
many people from all sectors of society. Their substantial
contributions made this rebirth possible.

The computer unit
Additional PCs were purchased and installed in the
new laboratories, and new teachers were trained.
This was made possible by our partners Dominik
Rossmann, Rainer Donner and Markus Bayrle.
Today everything is even better than it was before.
Now the young people can take certified examinations
that will make it much easier for them to embark
on a new career. Thank you!
