The most intense destruction probably occurred near the Kohneh Shahr apexwhere all but one of the 20 churches in the villages of Kohneh Shahr, Savra, Khosrova,Uleh, Malham, Gulizan and Patehvir were destroyed. The exception was Mar Givargisin Khosrova, a large, masonry structure with walls built in the traditional style, i.e.about 1.25m thick, with an outer layer of hewn stone, an inner layer of rough stone andgood cement mortar. The 4 inner pillars and the vaulted roof collapsed, but most ofthe walls, excepting the corners of the building, remained standing (Fig. 6).
