Then the New Year will upon us. Let us be open to the Lord’s beckoni n g to understand the deeper meaning of this time of transition. Faith will lead us, many wonders will follow. A d v e n t & C h r i s tmas at Christ the K i n g Submitted by Rev. Carola von Wr a n g e l So many wonderful events and worship services are coming up during the next month. On the following pages, you will find the schedules for music with our choir and Young Singers both at Christ the King and in downtown Frankfurt. (Messiah Singalong, Young Singers at the Liebfrauenkirche, Choir at the Weihnachtsmarkt). T h e r e is also a schedule of all our services, beginning with Lessons and Carols on 19 Decemb e r. All of these are wonderful opportunities to invite friends and neighbors, as well. Many people seek a place to worship during Christmas and are just waiting for an invitation. Invite them! In the midst of these schedules and your own travels and festivities, please also take time for quiet reflection. What and who are we waiting for in Advent? Why is C h r i s tmas central to our faith? W h a t do the prophecies of Isaiah mean to me today? What is meant by the “Prince of Peace”, for example? What can I or we do to help those whose Christmas is not m e r r y ? May the Prince of Peace dwell in our hearts richly during this season. O Come All Ye F a i t h f u l Make a joyful noise unto the Lord at our annual singalong or listen to our young and grown-up sin - gers at the upcoming con - certs in the city. G . F. Handel's Messiah S i n galong at Christ the King Frid a y, 3 December at 7 p.m. Please come and join our soloists and choir at Christ the King for an uplifting evening of serious singing! The evening starts with a brief run-through of the piece followed by wine and other refreshments. Then we sing through the whole Messiah in all its glory from 8:15 till approximately 9:15 p.m. Proceeds to go to support the musical activities of the C h o i r. Might it be that we are called to wait? To wait for the fulfillment of God’s promises, for the revelation of his plan for us, for the birth of his son? The candles on the A d v e n t Wreath are often taken to represent Abraham and Sarah, the Prophets, John the Baptist and Mary the Mother of Jesus; all of them called to wait in different ways and for different reasons. Each week we will take one of these four people and look at how, through their experience of waiting, God is speaking to us in our hectic world as we rush towards Christmas.
