On <strong>Christ</strong>mas Day, after <strong>the</strong><br />
morning service <strong>we</strong> will ga<strong>the</strong>r<br />
for a traditional <strong>Christ</strong>mas<br />
Dinner in our Undercroft.<br />
If you don't have a big family<br />
of your own, you are very<br />
<strong>we</strong>lcome to join <strong>us</strong> for turkey,<br />
s<strong>we</strong>et potatoes, red cabbage<br />
and all <strong>the</strong> trimmings toge<strong>the</strong>r<br />
with your church family<br />
at <strong>Christ</strong> <strong>the</strong> <strong>King</strong>.<br />
The idea to have a <strong>Christ</strong>mas<br />
Dinner for <strong>us</strong> expatriates<br />
was born many years ago in<br />
1999, when our beloved interim<br />
priest Rev. Paul Fisk<br />
and <strong>his</strong> wife Jean invited parishioners<br />
over for a <strong>Christ</strong>mas<br />
Dinner at <strong>the</strong> Rectory.<br />
As single mo<strong>the</strong>rs, my friend<br />
Sandy and I thought t<strong>his</strong> was<br />
a brilliant idea, better than<br />
celebrating separately and<br />
each <strong>only</strong> with our boys for<br />
c o m p a n y.<br />
Shortly after t<strong>his</strong> announcement,<br />
Rev. Paul died unexpectedly<br />
of a heart attack and<br />
<strong>we</strong> all <strong>we</strong>re in shock and grief.<br />
Paul was such a lovely person,<br />
a very good and close<br />
friend to many of <strong>us</strong>, one of<br />
those true saints, if you ever<br />
met one. As <strong>Christ</strong>mas was<br />
fast approaching, Sandy and<br />
I decided that, in spite of our<br />
grief, <strong>we</strong> would do <strong>the</strong> <strong>Christ</strong>mas<br />
dinner anyway, fulfilling<br />
Paul's wonderful idea.<br />
On <strong>Christ</strong>mas Day around<br />
20 parishioners ga<strong>the</strong>red<br />
around <strong>the</strong> big table in <strong>the</strong><br />
Rectory and it was a good<br />
thing to do so.<br />
So come to <strong>the</strong> <strong>Christ</strong>mas<br />
Service on <strong>the</strong> 25th and join<br />
<strong>us</strong> for <strong>the</strong> CtK family <strong>Christ</strong>mas<br />
dinner afterwards. Yo u<br />
