WEDNESDAY: AARE GORGEOver thousands of years the Aare River has carved its waybetween the villages of Meiringen und Innertkirchen, forminga 1.4 km long and 200 m deep gorge which is hardly morethan a meter wide at its narrowest point. The Aare Gorge isthe fascinating result of a limestone rock, the "Kirchet,”which hindered the flow of the Aare from the Grimsel region.As we take a 40-50 minute walk through the Aare Gorgealong safe walkways and through tunnels you will feel theforce of nature like nowhere else! Below you is the ice-coldglacier water of the Aare River forcing its way relentlesslythrough the narrow gorge, above you sheer cliffs which riseup into the sky. Our bus will await us at the other end of thegorge.Cost: CHF 30 per adult / CHF 15 per child 6-16 years old / children under age 6 freeSack lunch: CHF 6.50 eachwww.aareschlucht.ch- 9 -
