There are 250farmyard animals, old-time gardens and fields to see, plusdemonstrations of local craftsmen and farmers working withtraditional tools.Thematic exhibitions and special events about culture andcustoms create a vivid impression of rural life in days goneby.Cost: CHF 45 per adult / CHF 20 per child 6-16 years old / children under age 6 freeSack lunch: CHF 6.50 eachWebsite: www.ballenberg.chTUESDAY: NIEDERHORN BY CABLE CARAfter taking the bus to Beatenberg we will take the cable-car tothe Niederhorn with breathtaking views of Lake Thun belowas well as the snow-covered 4,000 meter peaks of the Eiger,Mönch and Jungfrau.From the Niederhorn Station there are several well-maintainedand well-marked panorama trails leading you along an alpinelandscape of heather, alpine roses and bilberries as well asgnarled sycamore trees. Along the way, you can also expect tosee ibexes, chamois, and marmots. In 2008 these trails werechosen as among the most beautiful in Switzerland.For the hike you will need walking shoes and if you havebinoculars, bring them with you. Also bring sunglasses,sunscreen, and rain jackets.
