Vaught Professor of Christian History and Ministry atOuachita <strong>Baptist</strong> University in Arkadelphia, Arkansas. He is a graduate ofHoward Payne University and Southwestern Theological Seminary in Ft. Worth,Texas, where he received an MDiv and a PhD. He moved to Ouachita in 1991after serving for seven years as pastor at Immanuel <strong>Baptist</strong> Church inWiesbaden, Germany. In addition to teaching on the university level, Terry hasserved as interim pastor at 22 churches in Arkansas, Texas, and Europe. Hehas written articles, book chapters, and professional papers on several subjectsincluding William Carey, <strong>Baptist</strong> History, preaching, and biblical backgrounds.He has also authored or co-authored The Journal and Selected Letters ofWilliam Carey, Preaching God’s Word, and Telling God’s Story: The Biblical Narrative fromBeginning to End, 2n ed. and is currently working on a homiletical commentary on Acts. Terry andhis wife Kathy have been married for 41 years and enjoy being grandparents to Carter, Nora, andLawson.Serving in the Light of Christ: a study of First JohnRoom DominoLorin CranfordOver the course of the seminar we will explore the profound insights of this first letter of John aboutliving the Christian life under the guidance of Christ. Coping with temptation, learning how to loveothers, defending ourselves against false teaching are but some of the themes emerging in this richdocument of the New Testament.Born in west Texas ranch and farm life in 1941 near Perrin, Texas, LorinCranford grew up in that culture in the 1950s, enjoying the natural world thatGod has created. His parents were leaders in the <strong>Baptist</strong> church in thissmall community, and he cannot remember a time when he has not beeninvolved in church. Christ came into his life in 1949 and a call to ministrycame in 1957. Studies at Wayland <strong>Baptist</strong> University and SouthwesternSeminary led to BA, MDiv, and ThD degrees. Two pastorates in Graford andFt. Worth, Texas, preceded joining the faculty at Southwestern Seminary in1974 as Professor of New Testament and Biblical Greek. Retirement from SWBTS in 1997 led to an11-year teaching experience at Gardner-Webb University in western North Carolina as Professor ofReligious Studies. Retirement in 2008 from GWU led to being pastor of the <strong>International</strong> <strong>Baptist</strong>Church in Cologne, Germany. Retirement from there in 2010 led to actual retirement and volunteerservice through the <strong>International</strong> <strong>Baptist</strong> Church in San José, Costa Rica. come guest professorships and lectureships in the German universities of Bonn, Heidelberg, andGöttingen, as well as at the Prediger Seminar in Hamburg. Heteaches Missions as an adjunct professor at Akademie für Weltmission at Korntal,Germany, in association with Columbia <strong>International</strong> University. He holds a DMinin World Missions from Southwestern <strong>Baptist</strong> Theological Seminary. They areboth also founders of Growth Points <strong>International</strong>, an organization focusing ontraining pastors and workers in cross-cultural mission work and addressinghuman trafficking needs worldwide. In order for men tosucceed there must be a spirit of unity where values and beliefs are matched at every level ofspiritual growth. This seminar is designed to help men who want male leadership to surface in thechurch and community. Not only is this seminar designed as an effort to reach men but to buildthem up and then allow them to see their Christian beliefs lived out at an equivalent value level intheir family, community, and church.Currently as the president of Crystal Clear Ministries, Gene Selanderleads a number of Bible Studies for men of influence in the Denver,Colorado area, along with doing interim pastorates in the RockyMountain region. The majority of his time, however, is spent workingwith A2:5 (international church planting assistance) of ConvergeWorldwide.Gene’s ministry experience spans more than 40 years and includespreaching, evangelism, discipleship, and staff development. Gene wasordained by Converge Worldwide (BGC) and has also been a member of the National Associationof Evenagelicals. Gene has been a chapel speaker for the Denver Broncos, San Francisco 49'ers,and Los Angeles Dodgers and a Bible study leader for the PGA professional golf tour.- 18 -
