BackgroundUnder the Planning and Compulsory Purchase Act (2004) this Development Brief has beenadopted as a Supplementary Planning Document (SPD) within the Local DevelopmentFramework (LDF) for North Devon in order to supplement policies in the North Devon Local Plan1995-2011 (adopted July 2006).In accordance with Government guidance (PPS12: Local Development Frameworks), this briefwas prepared alongside a Sustainability Appraisal and Strategic Environmental Assessment inaccordance with the indicators from the Sustainability Appraisal Framework for North Devonidentified within the sustainability scoping report for this development brief. A copy of thisdocument has been published separately.A draft development brief was subject to a six-week formal consultation period from 20 July2007 to 31 August 2007 in order to take account of the views of a wide range of organisations,individuals and other stakeholders.
