Wheel ConstructionHigh efficiency, non-overloading airfoil wheels areprovided on all sizes and arrangements. Wheels shallhave precision spun, flat inlet cones to allow higherefficiencies over the performance range of the fan.Aluminum wheels using extruded aluminum blades areprovided as standard on sizes 245 and smaller andare available as an option on larger units.ConstructionFeaturesThe BAE-DW wheels shall have staggered bladesfor improved sound characteristics. All hollow bladewheels shall be continuously welded around alledges. All wheels shall be statically and dynamicallybalanced on precision electronic balancers toa Balance Quality Grade G6.3 per ANSI/AMCA 204or better.Housing ConstructionAll fan housings are continuously welded to providestrength and durability for extended service life — anecessity in all commercial and industrial installations.BAE-DW wheel with hollow airfoil bladesstaggered for improved sound qualityAll housings are reinforced with rigid bracing toincrease structural integrity. The support angles areintermittently welded and caulked between welds toprevent bleed-through corrosion. Precisely positionedcutoff plates and aerodynamically spun inlet conesprovide high efficiency and smooth airflow throughthe fan. The housing construction and dimensionsare exactly the same as our current BAF fan design. All fans are available in standard discharge configuration.BAE-SW fans Class I and II, sizes 270 andsmaller in Arrangements 1, 4, and 9 are field rotatableto any standard discharge position. To helpreduce overall heights, all BAE-DW fans feature anon-rotatable housing design as standard.ShaftShafts are AISI Grade 1040 or 1045 hot-rolled steelaccurately turned, ground, polished, and ring gaugedfor accuracy. Shafts are generously sized for a firstcritical speed of at least 1.43 times the maximumspeed for the class.BAE-SW wheel with hollow airfoil bladescontinuously welded to the rim and backplateBearingsBearings are heavy duty, grease lubricated, sphericalroller or anti-friction ball (BAE-DW bearings are adaptermounted), self-aligning, pillow block type, selectedfor minimum average bearing life (AFBMA L-50) inexcess of 200,000 hours at the maximum fan RPM.Mechanical Run Test & Final Vibration CheckAll fans are assembled for a mechanical run test andfinal balance prior to shipment. Vibration readings aretaken on both fan bearings in the axial, horizontal, and vertical directions at the specified speed. Fansare balanced to 0.15 in./sec. peak or less.©2012 Twin City Fan Companies, Ltd., Minneapolis, MN.All rights reserved.
