iiiPreparation of this documentThis document was prepared as part of the FAO Aquaculture Management andConservation Service’s (FIMA) ongoing programme “Monitoring, Management andConservation of Resources for Aquaculture Development”. The activities under thestudy entitled “Impact of rising feed ingredient prices on aquafeeds and aquacultureproduction” were undertaken in response to the soaring increase in food (particularlycereal grain) prices all over the world during 2007–2008 and was partially funded byNorway Programme Cooperation Agreement 2008.This technical paper was edited for technical content by Dr M.N. Kutty. Forconsistency and conformity, scientific and English common names of fish species wereused from FishBase (www.fishbase.org/home.htm).The authors acknowledge Ms Tina Farmer and Ms Françoise Schatto for theirassistance in quality control and FAO house style and Mr José Luis Castilla for layoutdesign.
