D<strong>and</strong>elivered lectures to veterinary students <strong>and</strong> SLU students in theAnimal Welfare <strong>and</strong> Behavior program, <strong>as</strong> well <strong>as</strong> industry groupsincluding veterinarians, the Swedish Board <strong>of</strong> Agriculture <strong>and</strong>AstraZeneca. Marina von KeyserlingkMarina (Nina) von Keyserlingk w<strong>as</strong> promoted to full pr<strong>of</strong>essor in2010. Nina joined the Animal Welfare program in 2002 after workingfor several years <strong>as</strong> a research scientist in the animal feed industry.In 2008, she w<strong>as</strong> appointed NSERC Industrial Research Chair. She isinternationally recognized for her research on care <strong>and</strong> housing fordairy cows <strong>and</strong> calves <strong>and</strong> the impact <strong>of</strong> her research can be seen onfarms around the world. Pr<strong>of</strong>. von Keyserlingk’s studies have focusedon the under-researched are<strong>as</strong> including behavior, housing <strong>and</strong>management <strong>and</strong> how these contribute to animal health <strong>and</strong> welfare<strong>of</strong> dairy cattle.The Council includes six senior <strong>of</strong>ficials from federal <strong>and</strong> provincialgovernments <strong>and</strong> seven non-government members drawn mostlyfrom the animal industries.
