Deponent arguingwith Mr. M'Donell, was told by him, if he did not keepquiet, that he would get him stripped, and would makethe people in the camp flog him. Deponent was thenput into a separate tent from his friends. Mr. DuncanCameron arrived at the camp and inquired where deponentand the rest of the settlers were. Deponentanswered and went out. He was repeatedly told byMr. Duncan Cameron to be silent, if not, that he wouldbe put in irons. A few days after that, deponent wasremoved to a camp where the North-West Companyhad erected a battery close to the Government Houseof Red River settlement. The camp consisted of aboutsixty men, North-West Company's servants, half-breeds,and some of the late settlers and servants of Red Riversettlement, all under the command of Mr. AlexanderM'Donell. Deponent heard Mr. Lauchlin M'Lean,Donald M'Kinnon, and others, saying that they wouldhave Captain Miles Macdonell dead or alive.After deponent was liberated, he went twice to theNorth-West Company's fort for his trading gun and hisbrother's.Mr. Alexander M'Donell told deponent, he
