Hoskins Family Research DocumentationFrom: Sue Wright [mailto:wright_sue@sbcglobal.net]Sent: Thursday, December 22, 2005 1:11 PMTo: marge@plateautel.netSubject: Thomas Coleman Hoskins familyMarge,Attached is a Word file on the family of Thomas Coleman Hoskins. The family group sheet didnot print out very well to Word - all of the lines wrapped around, so I generated a report. I maywork with it some more to see if I can get the group sheets to print correctly to Word.Sue1. Thomas Coleman Hoskins, son of William and Dorothy Hoskins, was born about 1764in Halifax County, Virginia. He died about 1839 in Rutherford County, Tennessee.FATHER:1) Will of William Hoskins, dated 18 November 1780, proved 20 April 1781. Halifax County, Virginia Will Book 1, page352.2) Chancery Court suit, Thomas Hoskins et als against John Stone, Executor of William Hoskins, deceased, et als, 29November 1808. Halifax County, Virginia Pleas No. 26, pages 255 and 258. Library of Virginia Microfilm, Halifax CountyReel 65.MOTHER: William Hoskins did not refer to his wife by name in his will. Dorothy Hoskins' name appears on the Land Tax listin Halifax County, Virginia in 1782, the year after William Hoskins' death. On the same date letters of administration of herestate were granted to John Stone, her son-in-law, an order was given for the inventory of the estate of William Hoskinsdeceased. From this it is inferred that Dorothy, or Dolly Hoskins, was the widow of William Hoskins.1) Will of William Hoskins.2) Halifax County, Virginia Land Tax Book 1782, page 6.
