ShootingINDIVIDUAL TECHNIQUE AND TACTICSInternational Floorball FederationLevel 1.The shooting techniques are the same as in passing, onlymore power is used. The grip and the posture should remainthe same as in different passing techniques. Shootingshould be emphasised early at the start of a player’s career, because the fact is that most of the goals are the product ofa shot. Also it should be made clear from the beginning, from where to shoot and what kind of a shot is the mostappropriate according to the situation and the position ofthe player. Even young players should be taught to shootfrom different and unfamiliar positions. Also shooting fromstraight passes, both floor and aerial should be included ineach practice. One-timers will make it more difficult for thegoalkeeper to react when moving sideways, and the defensiveteam to predict the shot. Shooting straight from the passdemands good passing skills, which should also be mastered.Shot Grip Execution When Pros ConsLong wristAccurateshot/drag shotShort wristshotForehanddriveSlap shotBackhand shotSameas inpassingforehandSame asaboveHandsclosereachotherthan inthe wristshotWidergripsimilar towrist shotgripHandscloseto eachotherThe opposite sides foot in front, weight is on the back foot. Theblade has a long back drive along the surface and the ball isreleased on the level of the front foot. In the end of the shot, the blade should be pointing towards the goal, and the weightshould be transferred totally to the front foot.If the shot is shot from protection with rotation of the upperbody, it helps the movement if the same side’s foot is in front asthe shooting side.Chest should be towardsthe goal, also the same sides foot in front as the shooting side. The ball is released from the blade close to the foot in front. The opposite sides foot in front to gain the rotation of the upperbody, at the time of the shot the ball should be in front of thebody, and slightly to the side. The ball shouldn’t be as close tothe body as in wrist shot. The ball is hit with the blade’s heel, sothat the ball is lifted up in the air. The backswing might look abit like in golf. Can also be shot with a shorter back swing whenthe shot is not as hard but maybe a bit more accurate. The opposite sides foot in front than the shooting side, widestance, weight on the front foot. The back swing should be quitelong but the stick shouldn’t exceed the waist level. Just beforehitting the ball the blade should touch the floor and the bladeshould be pointing towards the goal in the end of the shot. The same sides foot in front with same sides shoulder usuallyfacing the goal. Can also be executed with back facing thegoal.
