INDIVIDUAL TECHNIQUE AND TACTICSInternational Floorball FederationIndividual tacticsA players profile is made up by technical and physicalabilities together with game sense. Game senseconsists of understanding the game, readingthe game and decision making. Reading the presentgame situation and predicting the next actionhelps the player to make the best decision dependingon the position they are in. Individual tactics arebest learned with the help of game situation roles.Game situation rolesThe ball carrier has three options. First aim is to score, thereforeto shoot. The second option is to pass to a player whohas even a better chance to shoot. The third option a ball carrierhas is to dribble the ball into a better position to shootor pass. This demands reaction speed and the ability to readthe game. Even though the ball carrier has the responsibilityto make the decision, the non-ball carriers also have theresponsibility to assist him/her by screening, creating spaceand passing lanes etc. Inside the game, all the roles and dutiesinteract. They all demand the player’s ability to estimatespace, speed, direction and time. The duties of different gamesituation roles are shown in the table, as well as the technicalskills a player should possess in a certain role. It must be understoodhowever, that the roles switch very quickly duringa game and a player is in a respective role only for a shortperiod of time. With junior players these individual tacticsshould not be emphasised as they are shown in the table. Thiswould probably end up with total confusion, so the roles andthe duties should be introduced gradually in the progressionwith the development of the game sense.44◄Movi vng without ballMovi vng with ballOffef nsive player witha ballOpponent withouta ballPassingShootingOffef nsive playerWithout a ballCone
