DOWNTOWN Y CENTREHiking and Outdoor Club - 2010 Winter ScheduleFounded in 1990, the Downtown Y Centre Hiking and outdoors Club is a volunteer-run club for all levels ofoutdoor enthusiasts. Join us on day and weekend trips to scenic destinations in Québec, New York State,Vermont and New Hampshire.MEMBERSHIP:Club membership is free for all <strong>YMCA</strong>s of Québec’s members.Fee for non-<strong>YMCA</strong> members: $ 33.86 (taxes included)To become a member, you simply need to complete and sign the Membership Application form and thePhysical Activity Readiness Questionnaire (PAR-Q), and send it along with your cheque (if applicable) or youmay drop it off at the front desk of the Downtown Y Centre.REGISTRATION FOR OUTINGS: Day outings – please call by the Wednesday prior to the trip. Weekend outings – please consult the calendar for the reservation deadline of each specific trip. Hours of operation: 9am – 9pm. Please do not call after 9pm – we will be glad to answer your calls the nextday. If leaving a message, please:o Speak slowly & clearlyo Leave your first & last name, phone number, and your ability to carpool or not.o If you are bringing a guest, please mention their first & last name.CANCELLATIONS If you have reserved a place for a day or weekend trip and then change your mind or cannot make it forany reason, it is very important that you call the coordinator. Not calling will result in a frustrated group that is losing valuable time waiting for you instead ofdoing something they love – enjoying the outdoors!WEATHER CONDITIONSUnless you hear from the co-ordinator, you should always assume that the outing will go on even if the weatherseems bad. Outings are, however, dependent on the weather and trails conditions, so the trail or destinationmay change under certain weather conditions.WHAT TO BRING Please bring dry clothes and shoes to change into after the outing. Proper I.D. for crossing border (passport and visa). Health insurance is required for US activities. Many of you may have a plan with your employer, ifyou do not, you can buy one through an insurance broker for a small fee. Y ACCESS CARD: You will have to present your card to the coordinator on the morning of the hike andfill out a waiver.REMEMBER:All of the Hiking & Outdoor Club coordinators are volunteers who put in a lot of time and effort to organizethese outings.


Skating in Montreal at Beaver Lake on Mont Royal on Friday EveningsDescription: Put on your skate and enjoy a season of skating. The refrigerated rinkmaintenance is guaranteed by the city of Montreal. Services on location, ice skate($8 for 2 hours), skate sharpening service ($6), locker lock rental ($3 with $5 deposit).Please note that all rentals require a piece of I.D. with picture, given back upon rentalreturn. Hiking and Outdoor ClubNEW CAR POOL FEES POLICIESDue to fluctuations in gas prices, it was decided at the last meeting that the following will beapplicable starting as of September 6, 2008:All drivers will present themselves at the metro with a gas tank full. At the end of the outing (at Lionel-Groulx or Crémazie Metro) they will refill their gas tank to bring it back to where it was at thebeginning. All the spending (on gas) throughout the day will be shared among all the people in the carwith the exception of the driver.FEES FOR ACCESS TO ALL QUEBEC PARKSA park entry fee has been in effect in the 22 National Parks of Québec network since April 2001. Thistakes the form of a daily fee, an annual Park Card or an annual Network Card, depending on theformula that best suits your needs.Therefore, to enter a park, you must pay the daily entry fee or use the Annual Parcs Québec Cardwhich is available in two formats:• Annual Park Card: gives you access to one national park for 12 months.• Annual Network Card: gives you access to all 22 national parks for 12 months.This entry fee also represents your contribution to the preservation and development of Québec'snatural heritage, as all proceeds will be entirely reinvested in the parks for the benefit of present andfuture generations.
