STATEMENT
I believe that in sculpture there is a physical intelligence
at play, separate from notions of knowledge in the
normal sense. It is a language of the body, of hands,
movement, texture, color and form. My need to create
is physical. The process is fundamentally cathartic; my
work is grounded in the subconscious, in ideas, informed
by my environment and my sense of the world. Imbuing
them with a hard presence is a type of release. The
objects become extensions of myself, a reflection of my
feelings, sensations and urges.
My sculptures are ambivalent and are frequently located
between two extremes: immunity and vulnerability,
seduction and repulsion, work and play, death and birth.
Despite this ambivalence, the artistic process is complete
and total.
