Expedition – the base Stappert and Hoselmann to join forces EXPEDITION: Mr Kolz, at the end of the negotiations on the start of a joint future between Stappert and Hoselmann it only remained for the signatures to be applied to the document – the end of a troublefree purchase? Peter Kolz: The complete takeover of Hoselmann Stahl GmbH by Stappert Spezial-Stahl Handel GmbH did indeed go off very harmoniously, as the traditional company fits exceptionally well into our corporate philosophy with its products, services and – last but not least – the people who work here. Two suppliers of special steels have joined forces here in a meaningful way. Hoselmann Stahl GmbH is well-known among industry experts – and has been for generations, as the Hanoverians Almost 80 years' experience, around 60 employees and a turnover of more than €60 million. Hoselmann Stahl GmbH, Handel und Anarbeitung, Hanover's traditional and profitable company, becomes a wholly-owned Stappert subsidiary. EXPEDITION spoke to Peter Kolz, one of the two Managing Directors, in conjunction with the formal contract-signing ceremony in Frankfurt am Main. have been trading successfully for around eight decades on the European market for quality and highgrade construction steels, as well as high-temperature steels. EXPEDITION: Was the product range the decisive argument for the acquisition of Hoselmann? Peter Kolz: It was a significant factor in our decision, but there were many arguments, not only the fact that the two medium-sized companies have been working together for several years: Hoselmann has always been a good customer of Stappert and the two companies have served the same customers in many cases with different products. From the product portfolio, through the distribution of their various sites to the highly motivated another perfectly. In addition, we have comparable corporate structures. With this takeover we are not only gaining access to a new market, but are creating the opportunity for both special suppliers to react even more flexibly to customer requirements in the future with an expanded product range. And there will also be considerable synergies within the IMS Group. With its 60 employees Hoselmann will continue to concentrate on the European market for quality and high-grade construction steels and high-temperature steels and expand its good customer contacts through the IMS Organisation in Southern and Eastern Europe – while Stappert with its subsidiaries and around 685 employees throughout Europe will press ahead with their range of Hoselmann Stahl GmbH – Facts: � Core business: trading and preprocessing in the field of quality and high-grade construction steels and high-temperature steels for customers working in shipbuilding, mechanical engineering, power engineering, vehicle construction, the processing industry etc. � Preprocessing in the field of flame cutting for customers working in the shipbuilding, wind energy and vehicle construction industries, as well as general mechanical engineering services in the field of stainless, high-strength and wear-resistant steels. EXPEDITION: What effects will the new contract have on the various sites? Peter Kolz: Hoselmann will remain an autonomous company, also in terms of location. Of course the two warehouse and pre-processing sites in Hanover with their approximately 12,000 square metres of floor space will remain in the future, as will the administration department of Hoselmann Stahl GmbH. The sites are not only secured, but also well-equipped, with pre-processing offering not only CNC-controlled sawing, deep hole drilling, rough turning and honing.
