Shepway Joint Transportation Board - 13 December 20105. Policy Overview and Scrutiny Committee - JTB/10/20Mr D Button, Community Delivery Manager (KHS) presented the reports thathad been taken to the Environment Highways and Waste Policy Overview andScrutiny Committee meeting with the following being noted:Barrier and pedestrian guardrailing policy – edge deterioration and badgersets concerns were raised and members were informed that the main problemwith edge deterioration, if corrected, meant that roads had to be widened whichwas not possible to do. Issues surrounding badgers could mean road closuresbut this is all guided by natural England and how they deal with this issue.A briefing note will be circulated to members.Members noted the report.Delivering road safety service into the future – officers, police and kent fireand rescue should be congratulated on their work which has related in thereduction in numbers of fatal and serious accidents and this is shown in thereport.Members noted the report.Signs and Lines policy and technical directive – members noted the report.Inclusive design and placemaking guidance – members noted the report.Planned carriageway maintenance – members were informed that theinformation note that was attached to the report is available to view on the KCCwebsite.Potholes – members will receive a report on this at the next meeting but notedthat the budgets for pothole repairs may be reduced or phased out but untilofficers are informed the works will continue and crews are on standby foremergency works.Gullies – these are cleared and if specific areas are reported to officers thenfurther works can be carried out.6. Highways Works Programme - JTB/10/21Members noted the report paying particular attention to the following:Appendix D1 – Bridge strengthening – a request by members to be kept up todate with regards to bridge strengthening but I was also noted that memberswere happy with the work that had already taken place.2
