• RHS Girls Winter Track Team – <strong>2011</strong>Central Jersey Group I Sectionals• RHS Boys Winter Track Team – Finished 2 nd in Central New Jersey with BrianO'Toole earning the championship in the 3200 meter race and Craig Hunter setting aschool record in the pole vault at 13 feetMrs. Sinkewicz and Mrs. Bootier presented retiring teachers Darlene Jones and Beth Errikson withhonorary plaques commemorating their years of service and devotion to the students of SharonElementary <strong>School</strong>. The Board extended their best wishes to both as they begin a new chapter intheir lives.Joy Wolfe, Advisor of the RHS Robotics Team, thanked Mr. Russell Fries of Nordson EFD for thedonation of three Apex picking machines to the Technology Department. The Board is appreciativeof this generous donation.VIII.SUPERINTENDENT’S REPORT – Mr. Steven J. <strong>May</strong>erMr. <strong>May</strong>er introduced Energy Czar John Blair for a presentation on the district’s energy conservationprogram. Since the program’s inception in July 2010, the district has avoided $108,658 in energycosts. Kudos to Mr. Blair on his efforts to promote energy and cost savings.IX.SCHOOL BUSINESS ADMINISTRATOR’S REPORT – Mr. Robert DeVitaMr. DeVita presented the Corrective Action Plan resulting from an audit of the ARRA / IDEA grantson February 22 -23, <strong>2011</strong>. He read the findings and described the remedy for each.X. ARRA RESOLUTIONSOn motion of Mrs. Boyne and seconded by Mrs. DeVito, and carried by a vote of 7 – 0, the<strong>Robbinsville</strong> Board of Education upon recommendation of the Superintendent approved the ARRAresolutions as indicated. Mr. Kasper and Mrs. Silvestrov were absent.A. ARRA Audit <strong>Public</strong> DiscussionThe <strong>Robbinsville</strong> Board of Education upon recommendation of the Superintendent certifies thaton <strong>May</strong> <strong>31</strong>, <strong>2011</strong> the ARRA Audit conducted by the New Jersey Office of Fiscal Accountabilityand Compliance was discussed during the public portion of the meeting of the Board.B. ARRA Audit Corrective Action PlanThe <strong>Robbinsville</strong> Board of Education upon recommendation of the Superintendent approves thecorrective action plan for the ARRA Audit conducted by the New Jersey Office of FiscalAccountability and Compliance.XI.MINUTES (Attachments)On motion of Mrs. Boyne and seconded by Mr. O’Grady and carried by a vote of 7 – 0, the <strong>Robbinsville</strong>Board of Education upon recommendation of the Superintendent approved the minutes of the followingmeetings as amended. COMMUNITY RELATIONS – Mrs. Sharon DeVitoThe Community Relations Committee did not meet in <strong>May</strong> however Mrs. DeVito expressed herappreciation to those who supported the REF Annual Golf Tournament. The outing raised$10,057.00.B. NEGOTIATIONS – Mr. Thomas HalmMr. Halm reported that WTEA has filed a Letter of Impasse. The next meeting for negotiations isscheduled to take place on June 8, <strong>2011</strong>.XIII.HEARING OF THE PUBLICA. WAYNE HOLLIDAYAfter commenting on the ARRA presentation, Mr. Holliday praised Mr. DeVita for the fact thatthe district is not required to return any of the grant funds to the state.B. TOM FLYNNMr. Flynn discussed the non-renewal of contracts for Matt <strong>May</strong>o and Tara Cumberland. Hepraised Mr. <strong>May</strong>o as a teacher of public speaking and requested that the Board reconsider.C. STEVE KREBSThe father of four children, Mr. Krebs asked the Board to reconsider the non-renewal of Mr.<strong>May</strong>o’s contract.D. WALT BURUMMr. Burum indicated that each of his three sons were mentored by Mr. <strong>May</strong>o and asked the Boardto reconsider their decision to not renew his contract.E. JODY MIDNIKMrs. Midnik implored the Board to listen to the voice of the community. She noted that Mr.<strong>May</strong>o is a fine young man who has the ability to motivate his students. She requested that he bementored so he can continue to mentor his students.F. MICHELE GLASSBURG BINDERMrs. Binder praised Ms. Cumberland for teaching her daughter the importance of followingthrough on commitments. She considers Ms. Cumberland a true leader and role model forstudents and asked the Board to reconsider their decision to not renew her contract.Mr. Reca thanked the public for their articulate expressions of concern for Mr. <strong>May</strong>o and Ms.Cumberland. F. FY2010 IDEA Grant AmendmentThat the <strong>Robbinsville</strong> Board of Education upon recommendation of theSuperintendent approve the amendment of the fiscal year 2010 IDEA Grant.G. Change in Prescription PlanThat the <strong>Robbinsville</strong> Board of Education upon recommendation of theSuperintendent authorize Benecard as the designated provider of the districtprescription card plan. Coverage shall be effective July 1, <strong>2011</strong> for full-time, tenuredemployees and, if elected, their dependents.
