A MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENTDear Downtown Stakeholder:It is my pleasure to present to you the Pittsburgh Downtown Partnership’s 2012 Annual Report. The past year hasbeen an exciting and busy one for our organization, as well as for Downtown Pittsburgh. We are enthused to sharewith you the progress, projects and initiatives that are assisting in the continued growth and development of our City’smost important neighborhood.Speaking of progress, 2012 saw a dramatic increase in our volunteer program, which further demonstratesPittsburghers’ love and commitment for our Downtown. Our Paris to Pittsburgh façade program celebrated animportant milestone this year, approving our 40th grant. This program has made a significant impact, improvingbuildings and enlivening sidewalks, while building stronger, more vibrant business districts throughout Downtown. Weended the year with a new holiday destination, welcoming the Peoples Gas Holiday Market TM , a European-style villagefilled with international merchants and lively entertainment, to Market Square.We continued to be strong advocates, working with a diverse group of stakeholders to address challenges andcapitalize on opportunities. Retail attraction was an important topic throughout the year and culminated with MayorRavenstahl and the Urban Redevelopment Authority’s release of the Downtown Action Strategy, designed to improvetargeted corridors with investment and new business attraction.Research has become a keystone of the work the PDP is known for and providing pertinent and timely informationto developers, potential businesses and the media was greatly enhanced by the publication of the first State ofDowntown Pittsburgh report. This compendium of vital statistics, facts and research was extremely well received andcomplements our Downtown Investment Map and other key economic tracking and research tools.We are thrilled with the energy and vibrancy that Downtown is experiencing and are looking forward to workingwith our local and state elected officials, business leaders and residents to create new, inventive programming, whilethinking creatively about how to address the unique issues facing Downtown.
