Open daily from November 24 –December 23 in Market Square, themarket featured European-style chalets,each filled with merchants showcasingauthentic gift items from around theworld. For a donation <strong>to</strong> the GreaterPittsburgh Community Food Bank,children of all ages visiting the markethad the added treat of meeting Santain his gorgeous Pittsburgh home. Over$25,000 and 2,300 pounds of food werecollected <strong>to</strong> benefit the Food Bank.The PDP looks forward <strong>to</strong> continuingthis excellent new tradition in 2013 andappreciates the generous support ofthe Colcom and Laurel Foundations inestablishing this impactful initiative.LIGHT UP NIGHTLight Up Night ® <strong>2012</strong> again broughtrecord crowds <strong>to</strong> Down<strong>to</strong>wnPittsburgh for two days filled withmusic, entertainment, a parade and ofc<strong>our</strong>se – fireworks! This Pittsburghtradition celebrated its 52nd year andcontinues <strong>to</strong> capture the hearts of allPittsburghers and heralds the beginningof the holiday season.Throughout <strong>2012</strong>, the PDP worked <strong>to</strong> keep peopleinformed about the many exciting events andhappenings Down<strong>to</strong>wn. We completely transformed<strong>our</strong> website, expanding the range of informationavailable and experienced a 32% increase invisi<strong>to</strong>rship. We invested in regional advertising,highlighting the PDP’s mobile-friendly website whichprovides first-rate information about Down<strong>to</strong>wnbusinesses, parking, events and housing.In addition <strong>to</strong> marketing Down<strong>to</strong>wn, we continue <strong>to</strong> produce a wide varietyof events designed <strong>to</strong> enliven Down<strong>to</strong>wn. MARKET SQUAREIn <strong>2012</strong>, Market Square continued<strong>to</strong> be the vibrant <strong>to</strong>wn square ofDown<strong>to</strong>wn Pittsburgh and thePDP was pleased <strong>to</strong> provide a widevariety of programming. Throughoutthe summer, we collaborated withthe Carnegie Library Down<strong>to</strong>wnand Business Branch on the <strong>Read</strong>ingRoom and Kid’s Play programs onTuesdays and we coordinated theweekly Market Square FarmersMarket each Thursday.
