ADULTSAND FAMILIESConversations with Extraordinary PeopleThis very successful speaker series presents theinnovative people, events, research and businesseswhose connection with Boulder has helped shapedthis community as a remarkable place. The BoulderHistory Museum hosted nine Boulder Conversationswith Extraordinary People programs in 2011 with over750 people in attendance. The 3rd annual series washeld once a month between September and May atthe Chautauqua Community House.Sonny Flowers & BHM’s CEO Nancy Geyer1968 Program SeriesThroughout the fall of 2011, in conjunctionwith the 1968 in America exhibit, the Museumco-hosted around town a series of 1968themed book discussions, laser light shows,movies, dance parties and speaker programs.Over 900 people attended these events. Theyincluded the ‘Beatles Sgt. Pepper’s’ laser lightshow, ‘Backstage Past: Talk & Book Signingby Barry Fey’ and a paneldiscussion on ‘Where wasBoulder in 1968? The Groovy,The Badge, The Drafted &The Radical.’History TalksThroughout the year the Museum offereda variety of programs in partnership withthe Carnegie Library for Local History.Subjects included ‘The Holubar Family &History of Mountaineering Gear inBoulder’ and ‘Around Nederland withKay Turnbaugh.’ More than 200 guestsattended these programs.
Neighborhood Walking Tours &Boulder Creek Bike TourOver the summer the Museum offeredwalking tours of University Hill and a newBoulder Creek Bike Tour in conjunctionwith Boulder Walk & Bike Month. A brochuremap of the history bike tour is available atthe Museum.Dog Daze of SummerFamily DayA summer family day at the Museum featuredMan's Best Friend in conjunction with theexhibit, Nature of Dogs! Activities included:Agility Course for AmateursHumane Society Pet Care CruiserService Dog demonstrationsDoggie Treat Bar & Cooking DemoCrafts and Stories for Kids4rd Annual Boulder Mystery Challenge: East Pearl Street EditionThe 2011 Boulder Mystery Challenge fundraising event took over East Pearl Street and theOdd Fellows Lodge. On a beautiful Boulder evening, teams riddled it out for their chance toearn the title of 2011 Boulder Mystery Champions!The 2011 scavenger hunt winners claimtheir delicious prizes provided by Concertosin Chocolate.Need a Clue?East Pearl Street restaurantsprovided delicious fare forthe evening festivities.
