<strong>The</strong> community and government: In their communities, children and young people wantservices <strong>for</strong> children, activities and venues. <strong>The</strong>y also want safe communities. <strong>Children</strong> andyoung people said they want government to provide equal opportunities and access toservices, and <strong>for</strong> government to ensure that schools are supported. <strong>The</strong>y want government tohelp keep families together by providing services. Submissions from young people said theywant the wider community and government to step in when there are opportunities to providesupport, particularly around helping parents raise their children. Young people said they wantto have a voice in legislation and policies that affect them.<strong>The</strong> importance <strong>of</strong> personal connections: Submissions from young people demonstratedthat personal connections make a difference <strong>for</strong> young people – in particular, having someonebelieve in them and love them, and having someone they could talk to. <strong>The</strong>y emphasised howimportant it was to them that they felt supported and loved, and were given opportunities todo their best in all areas <strong>of</strong> their lives.Monitoring, in<strong>for</strong>mation-sharing and prioritisation: Young people were asked specificallyabout monitoring, in<strong>for</strong>mation-sharing and prioritisation.
